War in Georgia

Well i must say that i find the Russian behaviour here typical of a country that has taken ten steps back towards the good old Soviet days. I just heard that Russia has accused Georgia of a Genocide, well thats interesting since it was the Russians who invaded. Many people are asking what the hell is this war all about?

Well the answer to that may not be all that clear but it is, we have Vladimir Putin the ex KGB man and all these KGB trained Generals in the Russian Army determined to raise the status of their country, to say to the rest of teh world we are back and we can do whatever we like.

Russia has been flexing its military muscle for sometime including flying bombers near the UK and "buzzing US warships. Vladimir Putin was the President who did so much to turn the clock back to the past glories of the communist era, becasue they are desperate to have influence and power.

But Russia has determined that in order to gain respect and fear it must invade a small democracy, slaughter its people and reduce homes to rubble. Russia is now expanding the conflict and it would seem to me that the Russians have been planning this for months in a calculated way.

The international community must tell Russia to withdraw from Georgia and ceasefire, they should also open humanatarian corridors to evacuate civillians and the wounded. Russia must understand that they are not imune from critisim or the rule of law.
